Mariner out of LA - Where is the port - Long Beach or San Pedro?

With very few exceptions, all cruiseships other than the Carnival ones (Paradise, Pride, soon Splendor), sail out of the Port of Los Angeles, at the World Cruise Center in San Pedro.

That said, you might want to look at the hotel threads that Curt, Steve and others have started with great info. You can stay in San Pedro, Long Beach, Santa Monica, and be pretty close to the port. The advantage to many SP hotels, is being shuttled to the port.

We just got off of Mariner on Friday morning... we booked our hotel with a bid on Priceline and ended up at the Crowne Plaza. It was fine, especially for the winning bid of $65. That seems to be the winning bid lately and you will end up with either the CP or the Doubletree.

I actually learned everything I know from the little sticky that is at the top of the West Coast Departures boards titled "Summary of Priceline Bids" or something like that. :) It talks about stars, zones & bids. You don't have to start from the beginning.... the last few pages should cover San Pedro & Long Beach. Generally your bid for San Pedro will get you either the Doubletree or the Crowne Plaza... I forget the star rating, either 3 or 3-1/2 - and the magic bid seems to be $65. Good Luck! :)
