blondie99 Posted March 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2009 Hi, I will be going to Belize on NCL Pearl the week of April 5th. I'm in a manual wheelchair and was told by NCL that I could tender, pending water conditions. I'm trying to figure out how likely it is I will be allowed to tender, because I'd like to book a private tour. For those who have been to Belize this time of year, what has the water been like? Was the tendering process and ride pretty smooth? Thanks!
packard89 Posted March 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2009 I was there 2 weeks ago and when I had to get off of the ship and onto the tender, I kind of had to make a jump for it. Not a long jump but it made me a little nervous.
Trish12345 Posted March 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2009 One of our good friends is in a manual wheelchair. It will depend on water conditions but let me pass along a few things we learned. Some folks will think you can simply get out of the wheelchair to get into the tender or the van/bus. Have some of your friends involved in the transfer 'calling the shots'. Secure whatever is under/behind your chair seat or hand it to someone else to take from ship to tender Good Luck & Be Safe! trish
NDCruiser Posted March 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2009 We were in Belize on March 12. The tenders were bouncing quite a bit both morning & evening & several people fell. The ride to the pier took 10 minutes or so & was pretty bouncy--they move fast!
navybaby1113 Posted March 19, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2009 Do you have to stand on the tender?
Toyz711 Posted March 19, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 19, 2009 no, the tenders hold about 150 people. they have beach seats in the middle and along the edge. they don't allow any one to stand.
