Truck Cruiser Posted March 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2009 Can anyone supply a link or links to what the smoking rules are on the different cruise lines? I for one will not book a cruise where I can't smoke in my room or on my balcony and a list would be real helpful so I would know who to cruise with and who not to cruise with. Thanks Tim

Thanks Tim I'm with you! We find Princess and Carnival to be most civilized in this regard.(Haven't tried Norwegian, so can't say about them) Here's a link to a great article: http://cigars.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=cigars&cdn=hobbies&tm=42&gps=445_567_1020_657&f=10&tt=13&bt=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//www.cruisecritic.com/features/articles.cfm%3FID%3D225 Happy Sailing! Thanks Tim I think it's best if you go to each of their websites under FAQ. I also find it interesting that some cruiselines i.e. Princess hold your tobacco purchases until the end of the cruise like liquor and some don't. You buy the cigs and take them to your cabin with them.

This policy must vary from ship to ship -- last year on the Diamond Princess I was able to take my purchase of cigarettes away with me. Alamogirl Posted March 19, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 19, 2009 We are "former" smokers and on RCL you could smoke in your room and/or balcony and other designated areas. Now most CL have changed, look at the various boards.
MattStevens Posted March 19, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 19, 2009 I think smoking should only be at the back of the ship, so the smoke is not brought into non smoking balconies or cabins. I am on vacation and should not have to hold my breath to be on balcony. I don't mind people smoking, but I should not have to suffer on my time to relax (or try to relax). I dont see this happening anytime soon, so if you are going to be that misrable, you may want to consider another type of vacation.
wrp96 Posted March 20, 2009 #13 Share Posted March 20, 2009 Celebrity does not allow smoking in cabins or on balconies. In fact, smoking is extremely limited on their ships. RCCL does not allow smoking in cabins but does allow smoking on balconies.

nursedebbiepink Posted March 20, 2009 #16 Share Posted March 20, 2009 hi, i just got off of navigator of the sea (royal carribean) both my husband and i smoke. we were able to smoke on our balcony. in fact,i was pleasantly surprised that there were so many smoking areas. on the deck by the pools, there was one side of the ship that was designated for smokers and one side for non-smokers. also, you could smoke in the casino. there were smoking areas in most of the bar areas. i agree with you. i would never go on a cruise if i couldn't smoke! We find Princess and Carnival to be most civilized in this regard.(Haven't tried Norwegian, so can't say about them) Becca NCL is very much like Carnival & HAL...smoking is OK in cabins, on your balcony, one side of the pool deck, and in some bars. They also have a special "smoking room" where people who like cigars can purchase & smoke those. Very civilized. :D.

MAttStevens- i would have to agree with you! however if i go out onto my balcony and the people around me are already smoking, i will go back inside, however if im out there and then they come to light up, hopefully they would be kind and ask if it would bother anyone before they lit up. Courtesy to the smokers and non smokers should be a two way street.
