allentownahoy Posted March 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Below is an e-mail I received from Kenai Fjord Tours regarding the fact that a 6hr tour is now possible when we are in Seward. This is far superior to the 4 hr that never leaves Ressurection Bay and was truly a highlight of our last trip to Alaska. I strongly urge you to consider this excursion, but mostly I want people to know it is now available. It would appear that the lobbying of some CC members (and possibly others) has paid off. Ruth, Good news! Pacific Princess has decided to do a 6 hour tour departing at 11am. You may want to give it a week to book just so everyone in Princess gets updated to this change and is familiar with the details. Please let any other passengers that you know that might be interested in this tour. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks! :) Carri Fisher Inventory/Group Sales Kenai Fjords Tours http://www.kenaifjords.com Office: 907-224-4540 Toll Free: 877-476-8775 Fax: 907-224-4588
kruzinRiva Posted March 24, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks for doing the research and posting the email! (I actually just cut and pasted your post from your roll call to mine:D) This is such good news!!! I was so disappointed to realize we wouldn't be able to fit this tour in... Is Kenai Fjords going to offer this tour privately only or will they be offering it through Princess? Becca
mountainhouse Posted March 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2009 I was curious, so I called. It's through Princess. Pickup at 10:30 and tour starts at 11:00. Didn't see it my Personalizer, so will check again in a week. Good info, Ruth. Thanks!
themerle Posted March 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2009 This is good news for those of you who are sailing on the Pacific this year. The Kenai Fjords excursion is one of my favorite!
naplesam Posted March 24, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Not showing for our trip (May 28th) list.
whale-watcher Posted March 24, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 24, 2009 That's great...we did not have this option available last year, although there were a few on our sailing that opted for a longer tour privately. We kayaked and visited the sea life center last year, but I would have strongly considered this option had it been available. Between this excursion and the Columbia Glacier cruise (as well as the small boat tours available in Kodiak) there should be some wonderful wildlife viewing possibilities. Anyone on the Pacific Princess this year who is interested in marine wildlife should also watch carefully on the sea day after Kodiak (when you cross the Gulf of Alaska)...we spotted both fin and sperm whales from the ship that day! allentownahoy Posted March 25, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted March 25, 2009 Not showing for our trip (May 28th) list. As the e-mail said, give it at least a week. This tour was just arranged. Site still needs to be updated.

Shoobee2 Posted March 27, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 27, 2009 Thanks for posting this information. I was just on the Princess website and also booked this shore excursion. I'm excited that it is being offered because I have heard such good things about it.

StarTrkGeek Posted March 27, 2009 #12 Share Posted March 27, 2009 I don't know how many can go an a tour - but if you are interested - better book soon. The ship holds approximately 100 people, but I anticipate it filling up quickly.
HappiestWhenCruising Posted April 3, 2009 #13 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Can someone please tell me exactly what this tour is called? Is it Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise? Thanks in advance.
StarTrkGeek Posted April 3, 2009 #14 Share Posted April 3, 2009 Can someone please tell me exactly what this tour is called? Is it Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise? Thanks in advance. Yes, that is its official name. It's a 6-hour boat tour. Be careful, Princess has another excursion called "Kenai Peninsula Excursion," which is a bus tour. This is not the excursion that you want to book.
