salami Posted April 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2009 My friend is cruising on RCCL out of Southampton next weekend and would like to know which credit card to use:confused: on board. There is a 3 per cent charge for mastercard and visa but no mention of any charge for american express. Any suggestions or advice on this would be appreciated. jotabecu Posted April 19, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2009 Try Visa from Capital One. I use it only for trips outside of US and does not have an exchange charge My friend is cruising on RCCL out of Southampton next weekend and would like to know which credit card to use:confused: on board. GRITS56 Posted April 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2009 I've always used American Express and never been charged extra for using it on cruises.
momofmeg Posted April 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2009 I've always used American Express and never been charged extra for using it on cruises. We used ours in 2007 when we took an Trans-Atlantic from England. We were not charged extra. However, pre cruise and in the ports shopping/eating not every business took American Express, so we did use our VISA a good bit.
ncaaref Posted April 23, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2009 I agree, Capital One. One of the best cards to use out of country. (Which ever card you choose, be sure to contact your customer service # BEFORE you leave to let them know which countries you'll be visiting. This will alleviate any "security/fraud" concerns). ladycanuck Posted April 25, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2009 if your card is US dollars, it is considered a purchase. No extra charge. If your card is any other currency, there is a 2.7% currency conversion charge. Check others - they usually charge 3%.
love2snorkel Posted April 25, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2009 I used our American Express on the RCCL AOS and was not charged extra just last week.
bguy101 Posted January 18, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2010 I have never been charged a fee and use my Amex everywhere -- People want your $$$ they usually will not make it unattractive for you to spend on your favorite card
