There are 3 of us that really like the itinerary of this excursion. We are doing the Walking Tour posted by a CC member in Nassau, but want to do this one booked through the ship in St. John. Has anyone done this particular excursion and what do you think?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I did this in Feb 09. We were supposed to do a snorkling tour on St. John, but the beach was closed due to rough surf. So we did this instead. The open air bus took us around the island, stopping at several senic points, and one refreshment stand. It was helpful to get a lay of the land, as I would like to stay there for eco-camping someday. I would have liked if the bus had gone into the beaches, instead of just driving by.

One thing that was good was the small boat to St. John picked us up at the ship, and took us directly over, so we didn't get held up with St. Thomas traffic. On the other hand, we didn't see anything of St. Thomas either.

Unsure what they are charging you but if you are adventurous a bit you could take the dollar bus ($2) from the ship area, 3 blocks away, to red hook, take the ferry over (unsure..$7 each way) and the bus at the dock (unsure $7) to the beach... rent snorkel gear and buy lunch for $20 or so and come back same way...dozens do it every day.

So that is $32 transporation per person plus beach expenses. You get to see the local culturual a bit more as well

Thanks for the info. We don't need to go out on the beaches so the bus/ferry tour is fine with us and since we'll be onshore for 10 hours we'll have plenty of time in St. Thomas for sightseeing.

Thanks, again, for your help.
