Hotel Galvez in Galveston Texas

We are staying here one night on Christmas Day to catch our cruise Carnival Elation the next day. Has anyone ever stayed here? How is it? Are there any good restaurants inside the hotel? Any info would be great. Thanks

Hotel Galvez is a historic building. I think, was one of the few buildings left standing after the big hurricane in the early 1900's. It is restored beautifully. Did not eat in the restaurant because of all the great seafood restaurants nearby. Guido's has been in Galveston for about 50 years. Also Willie G's at pier. Good tour of Galveston that leaves from across the side street from hotel.

We stayed one night at the Hotel Galvez two weeks ago. The hotel was nice and clean. We got in after 10 pm due to traffic so did not eat at the restaurant in the hotel. Booked it on priceline and was not disappointed. Good hotel and free parking.

Thanks for the info. We won't have a car. Did they have transportation to the pier? Or should I call a cab myself? Thanks

Phone the hotel from the pier and they will pick you up. If Blake is your driver, tell him the Canadians say "hello". We were at the hotel only one night, but he drove us to and from wherever we went. Each time we gave him a tip. We laughed that we were supporting him!!!
