We sailed this same itinerary last summer on the Veendam. Do you go to Skagway instead of Haines on the southbound? We did. Sitka is our favorite port, but we enjoyed the entire cruise. You can check out my photos at webshots in my 2008 album.

This summer we are doing a similar cruise, but we are sailing north on the Ryndam and then staying two days in Seward and sailing south on the Statendam which gives us two different itineraries. We booked during a 3-day sail and got this for the same price as the 14-day cruises.

I'd choose a pair that has different itineraries in each direction.

I agree and that is why we are sailing on the Pacific Princess roundtrip Seattle to Seattle stopping at both the major ports like Ketchikan, Skagway, Juno but also some of the smaller ports like Kodiak Island, Hoonan and Valdez with Seward, Glacier Bay and Victoria BC thrown in.

Or delay your cruise til 2010, and sail on HAL's new 14-day itinerary, round trip from Seattle which includes the "usual suspects" of Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Skagway, Victoria, BC, along with Hubbard Glacier, Tracy Arm sailing AND new ports of Anchorage, Homer, and Kodiak! Woo-hoo!! Thats the one we're taking - May 31, 2010 - come join us! Sounds like it will be awesome with long port times and 14 days on a HAL ship (Amsterdam) what could be better than that????:p
