Robin G Posted December 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2004 There was an earlier post but it received no response. Hopefully this time will be different: What time do the shops open in both Phillipsburg and Marigot? Our ship arrives at 7AM - it would be nice to know if we can get our day started at 8am, 9am or 10am! Thanks in advance.
kal Posted December 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2004 The shops in PBurg nominally open at 10:00am however many are open at 9:30am while a few others open about 9:15am. They close about 5:00-5:30pm. In Marigot, the shops open at 9:30am, close for lunch noon-2:00pm and reopen afterwards.

bebop Posted December 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 6, 2004 How about Sundays? Are any shops opened at all??? Thank you!
CaribbeanBlue Posted December 7, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2004 Almost everything is closed on sunday. St Maaarten is very church/family oriented and looks down on business being open on sundays. In Philipsburg a few stores will be open and the casinos. The casinos will be pretty empty. Burger King is open but not many of the fine dining estabs. Marigot is basicly shut down on sundays. If you are visiting on a sunday your best bet is to visit one of the wonderful beaches fora relaxing day. kal Posted December 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2004 How about Sundays? Are any shops opened at all??? Thank you! Here's a post by GTaylor on October 24th about shops open on Sunday: "I asked at Little Switzerland and Shipwreck Shop, as well as our friends at Trident/Shiva's. Consensus is that from November on almost all shops will be open, even if only one ship is in on Sunday."
gtaylor Posted December 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2004 Just to clarify, my information referred to 'Season', which I would consider running through mid-January for 'High' or until Easter for 'Swing'. Don't count on Sunday shopping if your cruise is next Summer.
