Sanddiver Posted May 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2009 There are a lot of small local places around the dock. Just walk around a bit and when you find one of interest then try it. Be ready for things not to be as neat and tidy as what you may be used to but there is some good food for very little money. Some of the best places do not have a website or pay to advertise. For chicken, taco's enchilladas there is a real good place east of the dock near the Municipal building on the same side.
Perfect Stranger Posted May 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Who knows if they even use soap and water before they prepare the food? Their standards aren't up to ours. I'd be afraid to eat that stuff.

Rare crewsweeper Posted May 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 29, 2009 Susique.. Just back. And I can tell you that places to eat in Coxen Hole are almost nil. Nothing at all on the pier. We saw one place on the water about a half a mile west of the pier on our way out of town, looked like a "roadfood" stop to me but it was closed at 12:30. Our tour vendor said that local places don't typically open early. And I must comment that I never saw as many people in the Lido deck buffet line between 1:30 and 2:30 in the afternoon as I did when we were in Roatan. So I'm guessing few people found places to eat. We were thinking about going to West End Village to Mavis and Dixie's on the beach, but it would have been a $40 cab ride for a $6 lunch:rolleyes:. Sanddiver lives on the island so you might try his rec. We didn't go east. But the map shows a restaurant on the island across from the pier. How you get there or if it's even open I haven't a clue.
