Calling home from Northern European Cruise

Recommended Posts

Probably buying a calling card while in port and using a pay phone is the cheapest. From the ship most cell phone companies have cheaper rates than using the land line on the ship, but are still rather expensive (usually $2.49 per minute). Text messaging and e-mail are also cheaper alternatives.

Have a nice cruise. :)

Edit: The $2.49 rate is for most U.S. based carriers - if you are from Europe or somewhere else it may be higher/lower.

I use ATT's International Plan. I do not pay anything but get rates at $ 1.25 and $ .50 text. If you use att, check their website and ask them to add the international roaming to your subscription. This plan also gives you discount on roaming from cruise ships.

Works fine in Germany, all Scandinavian countries, but do not know how it works in the East Baltic countries.
