Paypal debit card and back-up funding source?

Anyone with a PayPal debit card have their Visa or Mastercard as their backup funding source?

 

If so, and you've run into a situation where you took money out of an ATM and but didn't have enough of a PayPal balance to cover what you withdrew? Did the amount go on your credit card as a purchase or as a cash advance?

When I go over on my paypal card I have it set up to pull from my banking account which it does with no problems. Though I use a nornmal credit card for travel and only travel so its easier to keep track of spending.
