snowshh Posted December 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2004 I have read post saying that it's good to take a night light. I have taken them but cannot ever find a good place to plug them in. We usually cruise with Royal Caribbean. Am I missing a plug somewhere????
cruzincurt Posted December 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2004 Usually the huge gap under the cabin door (so they can slide that final bill in) provides enough light.
Bequia Posted December 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2004 We leave the bathroom light on with the door open just a bit. ;)
LittleBit Posted December 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 14, 2004 we've put ours by the mirror - usually an outlet there for hair styling. Ussualy put the room service menue infront of it to cover glare. Because I travel with a friend with different sleep needs, we leave it on so I don'thave to turn on a light when I get in very late or if she gets up in the night... funny story from one trip tho -- I had to replace the bulb before the cruise, just grabbed a pack of tree light bulbs from the closet and stuck one in and packed it.... first night on the cruise, plugged it in, only to discover it was a BLINKING bulb!! Many laughs - now I always leave it on for a few mins at home before going to make sure its solid!
springtxbill Posted December 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2004 Get an outside cabin and there is enough light coming in from outsie that you don't need the night light. Saves money on those bulbs.
lougee1043 Posted December 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 14, 2004 we use a soft glow green nite lite and plug it in in the bathroom---enough light so you dont kill yourself getting over the doorjamb
cruisingfreak Posted December 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2004 We each have a tiny (2 inch) flashlite. Keep it by our bedside. Minette
mii Posted December 15, 2004 #8 Share Posted December 15, 2004 We also use the bathroom light and leave the door open a little bit. Not too long ago someone suggested leaving the t.v. on but turn down the sound. That might work for you. Marilyn
goodshape Posted December 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2004 I take an extension cord all the time. Reason: the outlet in the bathroom is only live when the bathroom light is on. So I plug the extension (bring an octopus plug as well) into the outlet on the desk and run it into the bathroom and the nite lite is on the end of the extension. . seacat66 Posted December 30, 2004 #10 Share Posted December 30, 2004 hello, i just take those little round "button" lights. just take a battery out for traveling or they will be dead when you arrive.
cruzincurt Posted December 30, 2004 #11 Share Posted December 30, 2004 Is it really a good idea to have an extension cord in the bathroom that is not plugged into a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) type receptacle? That's why your hairdryer comes with a GFCI built into the plug; not having GFCI protection for power in the bathroom is a bad idea. Sure, there isn't usually a tub to drop stuff in but there is a sink and shower and potentially a wet floor. Electricity will kill you just as dead on a cruise ship as at home. All that metal construction of floors, decks and walls works is an even better grounding conductor than your house.
