Heathrow to London cost

We are arriving Heathrow at night at 8 p.m. We have a Princess transfer that may or may not work at that hour (or later considering time to go through customs). If we have to pay for shuttle or taxi, what might it cost in pounds to go from Heathrow to Crown Plaza St. James Hotel? We just want to plan how much money to have on hand at that hour.

There are several shuttle buses that go into London from Heathrow airport and also the tube - Piccadilly Line - goes straight in too - 45 mins. The Heathrow Express train will take you straight in to Paddington Station at a cost of £16.50 per person and takes 20 mins.

Be very careful if you do get at taxi as there are some unlicensed operators that really will rip you off. From £45 - £70 and takes an hour.

Try National Express Dot2Dot services too - £20.

Take a look at the Heathrow Airport website for some useful information on ways to get into central London. Click on the "to and from London" link.

Hello AZ neighbor! My DH and I were in central London at the end of May and took National Express bus. It was 10 pounds for the two of us and it deposited us within walking distance of our hotel. You could probably take the bus to central London (which is the Victoria coach station) and then a taxi from there and still wind up spending a lot less than you would spend by taking a taxi to your hotel from Heathrow. I think the busses run until around 10 PM or so, and you can walk to the central bus station at Heathrow to buy tickets or buy on line (where I think the tickets are 4 pounds each, but you need to purchase for a specific time which can be tough to determine). The tube would be a little cheaper, but it's a matter of how awake you will be, and if you're up to navigating the tube when you arrive. In addition to the info provided by others, you might want to take a look at this link too. You can find schedules for all transportation and there's a lot of other good info.
