St Thomas w/ toddler

we are doing the aruba route w/ RCI in early October and are trying to narrow down our excursion choices...what would be a recommendation for St Thomas, keeping in mind we will have our 18-month-old DD w/ us? FYI, DH & I have been to St John twice previously (Trunk Bay) and loved it....we are debating if we want to mess w/ the taxi/ferry hassles again this time around, seeing as we will have the LO in tow. If we decide to skip any island, and just stick close to the dock, it will probably be this one, seeing as we have been here before; but I can't remember, is there much to do/see close to pier?

TIA!!

I seem to remember a shopping area close to the pier. We went there with a 1yr old a few years ago. We had a great time going to Maagen's Bay. He playd in the sand for hours and took a nap on the beach. So sweet. I would recommend just catching a taxi, not doing an official excursion! We also went shopping in town, but I would skip it.

On our upcoming September cruise, we'll have a 4yr old, a 3yr old, and a baby. We plan to catch a taxi to either Maagen's or Sapphire Beach for a few hours. We'll probably also shop at the area close to the ship.

Just responded to your other post and didn't realize you'd have young kids in tow. Magen's is excellent for young kids due to the calm waters and the shallow drop-off. To me it seemed more like a salty lake than a bay. Sapphire will also work for kids but there is a bit of a drop off so you'd actually want to step into the water holding a child:

People with young kids have also headed to Emerald and have raved about the place.
