Pearl Deck 11 Noise

We are a family from Australia thinking of last minute cruise Sept 2009. Tossing up b'tween a Carnival Carribean (prob Legend) VS NCL Pearl Panama Canal. We have cruised Princess/Celebrity before but now with kids we need a mini suite (best we can afford on NCL) for space. Only cabins left on PEARL are on deck 11 underneath Garden Cafe. What are noise issues? as it is 14 days and while itinary sounds exciting, ..we do like a sleep in and possible daytime sleep for 2 yr old. Any help or advice greatly appreciated

We have booked minis under the buffet on the Gem, Jewel and Dawn a half dozen times and never had any serious noise issues. Once in a while you may hear some furniture being dragged when they're cleaning up, but nothing worse than that.

Of you book the Pearl, join our roll call! We have a great group! Should be an AWESOME cruise! Some of us are doing a back to back and starting in Canada!

We also were under the Garden Cafe and had no disturbances. Plus it was very convenient to be so near whenever we wanted a snack.

Some people complained about the noise from the disco (forward) and others who were under the gym.

Anyone know what hours the Garden cafe opens? Might be noise just late morning (suppose 2 yr old will wake at 7 ish anyway) and all over by 11pm? Also any thoughts on Paerl for kids? I have read where NCL not great on kids club activity. I think overall we would prefer Carnival but like idea of Panama Canal as we have cruised Carribean and Mexico before.

Have read NCl not that great on kids activities. Think we would prefer Carnival as line but like look of Panama canal as something different.

We had cabin 11072 on the Pearl in April. No noise issues...we loved this convenient location. The only small thing we disliked was the over hang on our balcony from the Garden Cafe, which was closed by 10.30pm.

Our 2 girls have always had fun at kids club & made many friends.

We sail with NCL for the fifth time on Tuesday & they can't wait.

Thanks so much for advice. Great to hear some positive feedback. seems like NCL cop more than there fair share of critisism (food, kids club, cabin size). Did you find cabin size (mini suite) ok with two girls? Enjoy your cruise next week.

Thanks we will.

Like you..best we can afford! We put the coffee table & the 2 dressing table chairs out on the balcony to free up some space. Plenty of storage...lots of deep drawers. Sofabed for girls very firm ask for extra mattress toppers, ours was bliss!

The only issues we had with our Minisuite below the Garden cafe was about 1:00 a.m. the crew decided to play basketball which is actually above the Garden Cafe but the sound reverberated right down to our cabin. It only happened that one night.

With regard to the kid's club, generally NCL has excellent kid's clubs. There are differences though between them and Carnival. Be certain to attend orientation on the first day so you know what to expect and take the time to read the dailies for your childs age group.
