how far is the waterfalls from where you get dropped off. also do you think an 89yr good health could do this walk?

Maybe a quarter mile, 1/2 mile tops. Paved/sidewalks. You can see from a distance or get closer by taking some of the gravel/dirt trails. There are also several viewing points. I don't think it would be a problem-go as far as you are able and it will still will be spectacular.

The thing about the waterfall walk is they've shut down the gravel portion of the "unofficial trail". We were there early July. Maybe they were working on that.

 

We had to traverse water at several points, a small pond, and several smallish streams. There were places to go around the bigger ones.

 

There is no elevation. Totally flat walk. However, if you needed more than a cane walking assitance, it would be impossible. Several places were really sandy.

 

I think it must have been easier when the gravel path was open. But really the way that's left is really more fun.

I think it would be too much to go to the waterfall. It is flat but you have to cross a stream stepping on large rocks and the path is somewhat rocky. JMHO

Dear Willy: Dont miss seeing Mendenhall Glacier. Is really close and beautiful. We did not hike to the falls as seemed to be pretty far away. You can still see it without walking there. have fun, elaine
