casino question

Can anyone tell me how soon the casino's open after leaving Cananda Place? Are the open duing sea days? how soon do the open when leaving the ports in Alaska?

I haven't gone yet but I have a copy of the cruise compass from RCCL. It appears that the casino opens 1 hr after departing Vancouver and 1/2 hour after departing the other ports. Yes, it is open on sea days.

The wonderful Canadian and Alaskan scenery opens as soon as the ship leaves port, and is open on all sea days. Wildlife watching is available from sunrise to sunset every day. The ship's activities go on all through the day and evening, in port or not. There are great shows, games, music, dancing, lectures and lots of other things to do all the time.

Casino? Oh, yeah, I think the ship has one. I believe I walked by it a couple of times. There were some people sitting there missing all the fun and all the beauties of Alaska. Poor folks.

I take you don't have an answer to the OPs question.:(

It's possible the OP will be in the casino while the rest of his family is on deck enjoying the scenery. One person enjoys the casino while other family members enjoy the scenery. It's nice cruise ships offer enough options to appeal to the interests of different passengers. Makes it easier to plan an Alaskan cruise if there are activities that appeal to different members of your group.

I'm not sure I'd call the shows or games "great". A pleasant way to spend an hour but far from great.

I stepped into the Princess casino just long enough to take a couple of pictures. I don't see the need to attack passengers who patronize the casino. I put them in the same category as "art" auction bidders. Not the way I want to spend my vacation. Those activities generates revenue that helps keeps our fares lower.

Some posters think they miss too much scenery wasting time in the dining room. JMO but the scenery is part of the Alaskan cruising experience. I'm wasn't willing to eat in the buffet just to get more time on deck.
