Mi Fi or Wi Fi

While I am not familiar with the Verizon products you are mentioning, I would be very careful in using it onboard ship. Generally if you are using the ship cell phone "tower", you will be charged international data roaming charges which can quickly rack up.

I have read one report where someone boarded their ship in Miami on Sunday and proceeded to watch a football game before the ship departed. His device had "locked" into the ships tower. He ended up having a cell phone bill of over a $1000 for the month. I believe he was able to work it out with company though.

I have heard of other stories about iphone users getting large bills when cruising in Europe. I made sure my wife turned off the data transfer mode on her Iphone when we did our Eastern Med cruise this year.
