What to do in Fort lauderdale after cruise?(moved)

Our flight is at 5pm out of Florida. Anyone have any suggestion to pass the time after we have to leave the ship?

I'm not against renting a car for the day either if need be.

 

Any must see attractions?

http://www.attractionguide.com/fort_lauderdale will pretty much give you the low down on what to do in and around Ft. Lauderdale. There is plenty to do there for a whole week, let alone a few hours. Rent a car and go over to Riverwalk, take a boat ride on the New River and see all the beautiful homes and their history along the intercoastal. Walk Las Olas Boulevard and browse the shops, galleries, and have lunch at one of the restaurants there. Drive to the beach (there's a great parking lot, not too expensive, at Las Olas & the AIA) and walk along the ocean front. If none of that appeals to you, drive over to the Seminole Hard Rock complex (on SR 441, just south of Ft. Lauderdale) and shop/eat/gamble the day away. So much to do, so little time....;)
