The Fleet Report and Daily for Monday May 6th, 2024
kazu replied to kazu's topic in Holland America Line
Thanks very much everyone. As soon as I told the receptionist the foot nurse’s concern, I had an appointment. She is well known and respected (doctors refer to her regularly) and I fear my poor doctor lost a few minutes of her lunch hour as she was running late. I am on a double the maximum dose of antibiotics and they do tire me (which sadly means there is infection). there’s a lot more and now I am worried. thanks all for your caring ♥️ Vanessa @JazzyV I am so sorry to hear about your BFF. 😞 Prayers. 🙏 @Seasick Sailor yes, you are correct. DD DH stands for Dearly Departed Dear Husband. it’s not on the list of CC acronyms to the best of my knowledge. I probably created it. The list that used to be there which was a huge help to me when I was new to CC has long disappeared.- 99 replies

Thanks Todd. You are NOT a bother. I went to check to see what happened and it looked like I erroneously picked up your end date instead of start date. My sincere apologies. I think I am jinxed with yours 😉 😞 I don’t usually get that stupid - too much of a hurry perhaps to get the FCL updated before i left. No excuse though and aplogies again. I will get if fixed for the next listing. Thanks for your sharp eyes.

good morning all. Thanks to Rich, Roy, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie & Ann. Just a quick post as I need to hobble out to the garage and attempt to get the car out and prep stuff. The foot nurse contacted me yesterday to see how my foot was after the trip and when I told her it had improved somewhat but then started to hurt at night and was difficult to walk on. I did wheel chair assistance disembarking and at the airport. Anyone who knows me, knows I wouldn’t do that unless it was unbearable. When she heard that, she asked to come right over to examine it. After her examination she agreed the outside was healed but the pain (she tested me - ouch)indicated either an infection inside or something very wrong and told me to not wait for my appointment on Wednesday but try to get in today to get antibiotics NOW along with all the referrals she wants (X-ray, vascular surgeon, orthotics - it’s a long list - not sure if the doctor will attend to it all in one appointment. her name is magic - they know how good she is and I have an appointment later this morning. Not only did she make the house call at her request - she also is making herself available if the doctor wants to talk to her about her observations. she’s a gem and I am so glad I found her. She is knowledgeable, dedicated and caring - reminds me very much of my own DD Jose. Prayers for those on the care list, those suffering losses, grief, pain health issues, worries and those that need them. Cheers to those celebrating and cruising.- 99 replies

Vanessa @JazzyV are you still having problems copying and pasting your Care, etc list? (Having to re-type). My FCl listing blew up and wouldnn’t paste properly. Apparently junk can form on an old listing and Brian (POA1) has fixed it for me, bless him. He also suggested not using select all or dragging to copy. You may not be using that on your Ipad but I have been. Instead he suggested using the old way of copy and paste: Here it is below in case it is of help to you: ” When I select, I don't drag. I click at the beginning. Then I hold Shift + Right Arrow to select the first character. Then, I hold Shift and press Ctrl + End. (Command = Ctrl on Apple keyboard.) Then Ctrl + C to copy. On CC, Ctrl + V to paste. “- 99 replies

Bless you ♥️. Thank you so very much. The ships were indigo blue (the 2nd last colour in the top row) but it’s no biggie. They can stay black if need be. It’s actually less work for me if they do. The blue wa at the request of CC members when I originally re-formatted the FCL listing. Many thanks for your help and support. 👍

I think I will try to do Quebec tomorrow and instead treat you to when we left Quebec. there is a reason that only the smaller ships like the Volendam can go to Montreal. You need to go under 3 bridges on the way. this is the first bridge in pictures - I elieve we had 3 or 6” room to clear it. Captain Van Eerten was tooting the whole way. I’m nos sure if the pics are good enough to visualize but here we go from start to finish. Coming to it: Getting close now and it doesn’t look like we have much room Just about to go under And her we go: The other bridges were when it was darker and pics would not have shown it adequately.- 409 replies

Ou embarkation day was lovely. after that it was generally speaking more cold than it should be, rainy at times We saw some sun in Newport when we were all aboard, in Halifax for a few hours and then sun (although cold wind) in Quebec on our last day. I have never repeated so many clothes and packed clothes I hae not worn before. I wasn’t alone and thankful for HAL’s great laundry.
