  1. The meaning of Mother’s Day to me. Being a career woman I got married when I was 35. So time was a priority in starting a family. However; My first pregnancy ended in a disaster when I started let’s just say losing massive quantities of blood. They were unable to save the baby. Being of the medical profession and also being stupid at times. I refused blood transfusions because I did not want any antibodies interfering with a future pregnancy. So I was discharged on iron 4 x a day and not permitted to drive till my Hgb was above 10 ( um it was 6.5). This emergency happened on Mother’s Day 1992. We were given the go ahead late summer to start our family. Then in September I was pregnant. And had a miscarriage on Sweetest day in October. I hated holidays. And Mothers Day was very emotional for me. We gave up trying. It wasn’t to be. But on St Patrick’s day 1994. The spouse was sick as a dog. And I suggested we give it one last attempt to work on the job of getting pregnant. Not just a time for us to bond. ( I was looking at cycles on my calendar. I thought I could be ovulating). He goes. “ I can’t breathe… and you want to………” I go if we get pregnant we will call the child Ampicillin. I found out I was pregnant on Good Friday and went into labor on Christmas Eve. Meet our ampicillin ( Christina). Soon to be 30. Now. Life happens for a reason. Had I had those first two children chances are we would have never known Christina. Meet Ampicillin (Christina) I am blessed. I LOVE MOTHERS DAY. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY - To all who have any role in raising children. 💕
  2. Our view from our street in Vienna Ohio last night. After being in Oxford Ohio for the total eclipse black out and now this. I was in total awe.
  3. We were able to upgrade our GS to a CLS. I previously paid for a GS by attaining enough gambling points in the casino. Yup. Spent my money there. So the GS was free except we have to pay gratuities, port fees and insurance. Now to go to the CLS we just paid the cabin difference. Which was the cost for two comparable to booking an ocean view when we booked the end of April. Remember. Prices change often. And they have already gone up.
  4. Thank you for sharing. We are one deck up, in CLS. Just happy it is so close to our cabin.
  5. Having sailed in suites and getting the letter from the concierge usually 6-7 days before sailing, we respond back and they make our CK reservation for the time we need on the days we are dining there. I wonder if this response from the letter has any impact on making availability for Pinnacle members. Also some guest paying for specialty dining even making CK less crowded.
  6. Following and enjoying your thread. Thanks for taking us along. Two requests. 1. Who did you use for transportation from Hampton to port? 2. Can you check out and post some pictures of suite pool area/ loungers/ what it has. …… Thanks. Sue.
  7. That was what I did not hear on Symphony April 20, 2024. Glad to hear the “Ping”still” exist. Keep the review coming Be safe.
  8. @helen haywood Thank you for taking the time to share your unfortunate injury details. I can only imagine many case scenarios, to cause any type of injury. I am glad you are able to continue the cruise and be treated back home. Try to rest up and try to enjoy the rest of your cruise. Take care.
  9. Everyone is different. A few cruises back my feet and calves were severely swollen. I took pictures. It took 4-5 days to go down when we got home. At my next doctors appointment I showed him the pictures. He explained my predicament. To begin with; water pills are a quick relief. But it is better to control your intake of food and alcohol. And more importantly walk. He did prescribe water pills just in case (furosimide 20 mg) But I never needed them, I just did some changes. My problem was very poor selection of food. Fried, salty and excessive amounts. Now we request to meet with chef. No added salt and if possible share with us the low salt options. In CK there are a few choices not good ones. But the WJ with lunch selections was my pitfall. Now we are very careful. As far as alcohol goes. On our last 11 day vacation (8 day cruise and 3 land days) I had 3 glasses of wine. 3 frozen strawberry daiquiris and 3 amaretto sour. So in essence one drink a day. So if anyone cruises with me they can have my daily allotment of diamond + (5) drinks. It is nice to have the water pills. Just in case. But. I actually feel better. Now my pitfall is the ice cream scoops for lunch in WJ. Be safe.
  10. I agree. Ask me what else mom and dad forgot. She just started using utensils last week. Did not have time to get our set. Amazon delivery Thursday Yup. They leave. 😉
  11. Hi all Back from our last cruise about 9 days. But this past Sunday ZZZZZOEY and her parents came to town. They brought Miss Zoey for us to watch while they go to a conference in Texas. Brandon can only get his continuing education at conferences. There are no books with mail in tests. So upon arrival Sunday. ZZZZZOEY threw up and had a blow out. Temp 102.5. Broke with Tylenol and hovered around 99.2 Mom and dad had to go. Sluggish. Only eating fruit loops and Lorna dunes. Drink milk and also giving her formula to get nutrients. Today the rash ROSEOLA. And play time. And the appetite resumed Chicken McNugget pasta corn rice strawberries Blueberries She ate very well. Always something Time for bath later IMG_0927.mov
