bethohio3 Posted October 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2013 I've considered renting a pocket wifi (tep) for the cruise and am wondering if anyone has tried and found it to be usable while at sea. Given that we'll be staying close to land, I wondered if it'd be usable. Has anyone tried it?
CruiserBruce Posted October 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2013 Never heard of what you are referring to, but the chances of getting a land signal more than 30 or 45 minutes from port are extremely slim. The ship's wifi will definitely be the dominant signal.

The ship does have cellular service while at sea, but the rates for data are very high.
skisteamboat Posted October 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2013 I have used Tep in London with no problems but I doubt it will work at sea unless docked in port. Since then I have used an unlocked MiFi from ATT I bought on eBay with a local data SIM with good success in several countries. Cheers
