Ideas for Civitavecchia other than Rome

I visited Rome 10 years ago and remember it being very difficult to get round with a wheelchair, does anyone have any other ideas on what to do, or is there much in or near the port? TIA

If you read down this board there are a lot of suggestions,some just posted this past week, as to what to do from the port. Have you checked out Trip Advisor re traveling in or with a wheelchair as there is a lot of information that may be of help to you there.

We have stayed in Civitavecchia several times (for a day or 2) when we had been traveling before and after a cruise. It is a nice area...not too much happening but we like it. There is a market to walk through...some waterside restaurants..and we would watch the soccer (football) games from the window of our hotel. Not certain about accessibility. We would call for taxis as there were not many around the last few times we were there. Low key and different from the craziness of Rome.

I don't walk well at all and I had an amazing time in the cart.

We spent a relaxing day in Civitevecchia on our B2B cruises last month. Visited the castle (Michaelangelo?) and the beautiful beach, went inside a couple of churches, strolled along the pedestrian street, and bought a few things from the friendly vendors at the market. Then went back to the ship for a quiet afternoon.

We are spending 3 nights in Rome at end of our cruise, so we also are looking for something else to do here, at this port stop midway through our cruise.

On turnaround day, I went to Orvieto -- amazing.
