Parc Guell

Wish to visit Parc Guell. Which is the quickest way of getting to it from the cruise port. We never use taxis.

The quickest way (by far) is using a taxi :). Otherwise you will need to use public transport where you have quite a few different options including the Metro plus a long walk, the Metro to a bus, or just one of several bus lines. But you will first need to get from the port into town (near the Ramblas) which is about a 35 min walk (for fast walkers) or you will have to use a shuttle bus (usually to the Columbus Statute area or the base of the Ramblas) or a public bus (there is a line that stops in the port) or a taxi.

Rather then go into a lot of the details here is a link that should help:

Keep in mind that going from the port by public transit is a time consuming process, as opposed to grabbing a taxi at the port that will take you directly to the Park. When we have visited the park (several times) it was free, but they now have started charging an admission price.

First of all, welcome to Cruise Critic!

As others have said, a taxi will be your best bet. Is there a particular reason you don't want to take a taxi? Perhaps you are under a misapprehension that folks on here can correct for you.

One other tip, in case you are not aware. You'll need a timed ticket to enter the Parc's Monumental Zone, which is the key area you'll want to visit. You can book those tickets in advance:

HI

Sorry for not replying sooner to your post!

As regards getting to the parc I have decided that a taxi there might be a wise decision. We arrive in port at 8am and leave at 5pm and want to see as much as possible without rushing around!

How far is the parc from the cruise port and could anyone give an idea as to the cost? We will book an entry ticket on line so need a rough idea as to how long the taxi journey will take before booking our timed entry slot. Also what would be a reasonable length of stay at the parc?

After visiting the parc we intend to visit Casa Batllo and La Pedrera and will book tickets for them on line. I imagine 45 minutes at each site would be sufficient. Am I correct in thinking this?

A lot of questions in one post but hopefully someone can help me plan our trip.

Thanks

Linda

Pillatongirl,

The posters are pretty spot-on...taxi is the fastest way if you're going to Barcelona on a big ship. If you're going on a little ship, most likely you'll be in the executive port, which has a bus stop right next to the port.

The easiest non-taxi way to get to Parc Guell is to ride the bus to the Columbus statue, then take the green line metro (L3) at Drassanes to the Vallcarca stop.

Just follow the signs to Park Guell from there. It takes a little walking, but it will be easy becuase if you're coming in the summer, you'll just have to follow the stream of people. To get to La Pedrera and Casa Mila, all you have to do is get back on the green line and go to the Diagonal stop.
