We had a private excursion with Papillion that was excellent it had stops in Pisa the Florence then a stop at a organic winery with a wine tasting we had 8 people in a Mercedes mini-van best tour on our RCCL cruise. Also check with your meet and mingle to see if anyone has any ideas, it is so much nicer to do private tours with small groups

We did this last July while aboard CCL Vista.

It was a very nice day !

The bus ride is a little long, but really not too bad. We stopped 3/4's of the way there to visit the hill top town of Monte Carlo (quaint but quiet ! Great Views.) Then we drove another little bit to the winery, Fattoria Il Poggio.

I don't know if yours will go to the same place, but they are used to seeing a lot of cruise passengers, so maybe.

The reception was first rate, the wines were outstanding. There was plenty to go around and then some. They served cold cuts, cheese and bread. There was a little shop, but it wasn't forced on you.

:)
