Southampton port to Heathrow (Early Flight)

Recommended Posts

Our Princess cruise arrives back on Saturday morning, June 18th in Southampton. Ship is scheduled to disembark passengers at 7am and we have a 12pm flight from Heathrow to DFW (we are US citizens). The airport appears to be a little over an hour away but I am not sure when we will actually be allowed to disembark and how long customs takes.

Has anyone done this? Will we easily make the flight or should we plan a backup? Do we take a cab?

I look forward to a reply. Thank you - richard

For a noon flight you'll need a private transfer.

But the good news is that it's a Saturday. :)

Ships usually arrives earlier, with disembarkation from 7am (unassisted, haul your own bags from your cabin) & probably from 7.30 (collect bags from the cruise terminal).

Drive time to Heathrow is about 90 minutes & unlikely to be held up in the Southampton-to-Heathrow direction on a Saturday. But you really need unassisted disembarkation & a car booked for 7.15, at that time there'll be no long lines for immigration & there's no delay at customs unless your collar is tugged by one of Her Majesty's finest.

So you should have no problem :)

Don't simply take a cab from the rank at the cruise terminal, that's OK for a local trip but expensive to Heathrow.

So pre-book a transfer.

For a sedan (2/3 people with luggage) expect to pay about £95.

Try http://www.smithsforairports.com (CC members' favourite) or http://www.westquaycars.com or http://www.aquacars.co.uk

All are based at the Southampton end, which means they won't be screwed-up driving from Heathrow to collect you, and you're likely to get more personal service & better value than with airport-based outfits.

Did you end up using Smiths? Cost?

We arrive Friday, June 2 on Norwegian at Southampton and need to get to Terminal 3 at Heathrow before 12pm.

We used smiths last September from LHR to Southampton. It was £78 total for the one way trip. There were 2 of us with 2 suitcases.
