whale watching - how rough and how likely to see a whale?

We are on the Crown Princess in March. As I understand, this is the end of the whale migration. Any sense of the odds of actually seeing a whale? Also, how rough is the water typically? I am very prone to sea sickness. I drug myself up on the cruise ship, should I plan on drugging myself for the whale watching too? And am I going to worry about my 4 year old falling over in the rough water? I'm thinking we'll go on a bigger boat rather than a zodiac so I worry about that part less!

March is the last month of whale season. There will be plenty of whales.

Seas can be rough, calm or somewhere in between. They are not predictable. When we went, we were pretty close to shore, close to the breakers, where the whales are. That made the seas rougher.

We did the zodiac whale watching last March. This is the end of migration and the moms and babies bring up the rear. We saw dozens of whales with their babies. It was amazing. The seas were calm like a lake, but the guide said the day before was much rougher.;):D

Enjoy your cruise. I'm doing it again a few weeks. Cannot wait!
