Los Angeles Travel Bug Posted May 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2015 On MS Paul Gauguin 7-day Society Islands: Do the state rooms have binoculars? If not, should we bring some? Or is there no real need in the Society Islands?
ducklite Posted May 15, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2015 Maybe in the suites, but not in the regular cabins. We didn't feel we were missing anything by not having them.
Wendy The Wanderer Posted May 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2015 I've never taken them, although I've been tempted. But I've really never missed them--would be fun occasionally but that's all.
Adidas4fun Posted May 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2015 They are supplied in the grand suite and I did use them to peer at boats anchored nearby
RZ3 Posted May 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 15, 2015 None in mine on deck 7. I have some astronomy binoculars (long barrel/high power) that I brought. The dark nights make for amazing views of the night skies!
J-D Posted May 16, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 16, 2015 We always carry small, decent-quality "travel" binoculars (7 x 26) on cruises, including the South Pacific. We would not think of packing without including them. Besides the spectacular scenery, there are seabirds and (in the right places) dolphins and whales. For anyone interested in landbirds, the native landbirds in FP have been seriously depleted through human intervention, but some species are still present -- mainly in the island interiors. mwne2nks Posted May 26, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 26, 2015 We usually take ours so we can see around the ports before we go ashore.
