Rare Silver Spectre Posted June 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) Have just seen the new Silver Select special offers on the SS website. Very surprised to see that onboard cruise credit is back in a big way. And the kicker is double cruise days, I thought we had seen the last of that type of offer. seabreezer Posted June 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2014 Are they having trouble filling their ships or is this the usual promotion? Anyone know how the company is doing financially? I am a little apprehensive about booking more cruise with them. There have been so many negative comments lately.
Sunprince Posted June 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2014 Have just seen the new Silver Select special offers on the SS website. Very surprised to see that onboard cruise credit is back in a big way. And the kicker is double cruise days, I thought we had seen the last of that type of offer. Why would anyone book well in advance (other than to secure a specific suite or air arrangements), if SS is going to come out with these types of promortions closer to sailing dates? Sure, it is not really big bucks involved in the discounts but there is no real incentive to book early. And it gives no consideration to loyal customers who book early (and apparently the "fare guarantee" is not really reliable). I am considering booking a 2015 Med cruise either on SS or Regent. The situation is no different on Regent whereby they are now offering business class air upgrades for as low as $499 on some 2014 sailings. They certainly arent offering that for 2015!
