Rare JustinPlusLauren Posted January 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2014 We are going on an excursion to whale/dolphin watch in Dominica and plan on bringing our DSLR. Should we be concerned about the camera getting wet? Should we consider leaving the camera behind or will we be safe bringing it along?
Rare Crew News Posted January 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2014 If you stand at the side of the boat while it is in motion, there will be splashes of water. I got some great pics of the Sandals location and some beaches. Nary a whale or dolphin was seen by anyone. Feel free to bring your camera and a plastic bag in case it rains. Rare JustinPlusLauren Posted January 14, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 14, 2014 Thank you! We will bring a plastic bag along with our camera/lenses in a camera bag. Probably won't take too many pics when the boat is in motion with that camera just in case. Fingers crossed we see some whales!

Take along a pack of these; http://www.amazon.com/OP-TECH-USA-Rainsleeve-18-Inch/dp/B000PTFDYO I have carried a pair on every trip for the last ten years. Only needed them twice but boy, did I need them! Super handy and they take up almost no room. Dave

Krazy Kruizers Posted January 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) We have been to Dominica quite a few times and never saw any whales as we approached the port or as we left. The first time we were -- in 2000 -- we booked the whale excursion -- saw nothing!! Hope you have better luck.
