May 2016 Update

Thought I would pass this along, although it seems like the only thing that has changed is the date... just recycled from the April update. Oh well, if all goes well there should only be one more update before it is up and running!

I do want to do another Panama Canal Cruise and go through the new locks. They look amazing.

One of the best cruise I have ever been on. It was a day to remember going on a full ttansit of the canal.

Ran across this photo from Canal de Panama La Ruta FB page... Gatun Locks on the right and the expansion locks of Agua Clara. Grand opening is only about 5 weeks away, however starting on or around June 7 a chartered bulk carrier, MV Baroque will begin trial lockages up to Gatun Lake and back down.

Here is a new video just posted by the Canal. The title says it is the Pacific side's Cocoli Locks, but there is some video of Gatun Lake and the Agua Clara Locks on the Atlantic side for good measure.

We are so excited to be making our first transit of the Canal next January!
