Area to book hotel

We will be in town from Saturday until Tuesday afternoon. Is that too long to stay in OSJ? We will visit the rainforest and Culebra but also like the idea of being in a walkable area for dinner and atmosphere in the evenings. Or will this be super inconvenient to the other activities?

Your best bet is to book in the Condado area. There are four major hotels in the area (The Vanderbilt being ultra luxury) and several smaller hotels, boutique hotels and guest houses. The area between the old Ambassador hotel and the Hilton Condado Plaza has nightlife and lots of dinning options and is very walkable and safe at night. It's also very near to the major highway you would have to use to get to El Yunque (look for the brown and white road signs to lead the way) and to Fajardo in order to get the ferry to Culebra. It's also a 5-7 minute ride to Old San Juan and you can even catch a 0.75 cents bus into OSJ if you don't feel like driving there.

Thank you,

We for sure want to stay some of the time in osj. We love history, walking, eating and drinking. So far I have 2 nights at the Sheraton, super good deal $88/night. Not sure if we will try to book the first night there or drive out to the rainforest and stay out there. Trying to figure out how difficult the drive is back and forth?

We are getting ready to go there for 4 days prior to our cruise. We are going to stay at the Hilton in Fajardo and do the bio bay one day and then the El Yunque rain forest the next and maybe even hit up Luquillo (which is supposed to be the prettiest beach). Then we plan on moving to Isla Verda for the other two. We are going to explore OSJ the day of our cruise and may even possibly stay a day after the cruise and just stay in OSJ. :)
