Need to join excursions

In Rio, you can get around to the sights safely and easily by regular yellow metered taxi. Taxis are not expensive. There will be plenty at the cruise pier.

If you need to store luggage before heading to the international airport (if not planning to stay overnight), the in-town Santos Dumont airport, close to the cruise pier, has luggage storage (Guarda Volumes).

In planning for the two heights (the Cristo statue and Sugarloaf), realize that you will need a clear day, not always guaranteed, for good views. I suggest not buying tickets in advance because of that, and if possible, leaving yourself more than one day in Rio so that any bad weather can change for the better.

If you prefer to hire a good private tour guide (and maybe join with another couple on the cruise to do so), I can recommend someone with a vehicle, in order to perhaps cover more places in a brief time and also some gems that are a bit off-the-beaten-path.

If you have any Rio questions, please post to ask. I'd be happy to help.

If your roll call isn't very busy yet, check out the roll call for that itinerary on the Crown Princess this past December which we were on. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2216875

We did all private excursions and were happy with them all. Since I did most of the organization, search on my userid within the thread to see who we used.

It is a wonderful cruise - I'm sure you'll have a great time!

I sure hope you're getting a kickback from Liz Andrea because virtually every thread I read has a post by you promoting her tours.

Not at all. I can give a blog from passengers at my ship that also wrote about her and her trip advisor review.

We just want to help her as she is an independent high qualify guide and her service is excellent. She needs to work. Sorry to bother you.
