cruizeblues Posted February 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Never sure what to tip taxi drivers, tour operators or day-sail crew. Should it be the standard 15% (more if awesome) or flat rate per person amount? Don't want to be cheap, know many of these folks depend on tips for a living. For standard taxi drivers you can go lower than that, say 5-10%, since they do pretty well off of the standard rates. For operators and captains 15% is normal, tip more if they earn it. While we are on the subject please please PLEASE tip your waiters/waitresses and bartenders much MUCH more than you normally would in the states. Most of them DO NOT get any hourly wage, they are literally surviving on your tips. People tend to forget when they buy a beach package that includes drinks that they should still tip the bartender. Some of my favorite bartenders refuse to work on cruise ship days because they don't make anything. Please just keep that in mind.
