Getting to Quincy Market (Boston)

What is the best way to get to Faneual Hall/Quincy Market from the port in Boston? Are there shuttles? Or will we need a taxi or public transportation? Also - the cost?

2) Silver line T to South Station and then

A) taxi

B) walk

3)hop on/off bus

Is silver line close to port to catch and within walking distance once we get to South Station? We aren't in bad shape - could handle a 15 min walk or so.

There is a Silver line stop at the pier. It takes you to South Station from which you can walk along the Rose Kennedy Greenway, alongside the waterfront, but it's about 7 longish blocks.

Walking from South Station to Quincy Market is certainly not bad on a nice day (and the greenway is a fun way of going about it). If the weather isn't on your side or you want to shorten the walk by a couple blocks, you can also at South Station, transfer to the Red Line (subway) instead of heading above ground. From there you can cut your walk in half by taking the Red line one stop towards Alewife (inbound) to Downtown Crossing. You can get even close by transferring to the Orange Line towards Oak Grove at Downtown Crossing for one stop and then getting off at State Street.

.....which all probably takes twice as long as simply walking..... :-)

....and at 2+ bucks pp probably costs as much as the short taxi ride from S. Station....
