Magens Bay Info

This is a very easy excursion, have done it 3 times now on our own. When you get off the ship, walk to the taxi area; tell the dispatcher where you want to go, and he will direct you to an open air safari-style taxi where all the other passengers are also going to Magens Bay. The cost will be either $8 or $9 per person (depending on which pier you dock at), each way, with a $4 each admission charge to Magens. This is a beautiful beach day and there are facilities there, just no motorized water craft permitted.

When you are ready to go back to the ship, you will see taxis in the parking lot. Be sure to tell the driver your ship name and he will most likely just ask you to wait a few minutes for other passengers also going to the same ship.

Have fun. :D

Planning on being there on Monday, June 9th. How is the snorkeling at Megan's Bay?

Magens is too sandy for snorkeling, you'll want Coki or Secret Harbor on STT. The thread titled The beautiful beaches of st Thomas has much info.

We liked the beach at Magen's Bay; however, it can get extremely crowded. We had to leave when chairs we're put so close together that we had a difficult to get out of them.

Agreed. And the water gets very cloudy. I'd search for a less populated alternative if you can.

And the water gets very cloudy.

that's because it's a sandy bottom. You will see the same thing at the other beaches when heavier waves are in but the snorkeling is good at Coki, Sapphire, and Secret Harbor because of the reef and sea grass areas.
