Is there a st thomas version of Bernard's tours?

They all get back to the ships on time. The people who don't make it back are usually those who are shopping or at a beach and not paying attention when taxis call for back to the ship.

The islands bear considerable expense when people miss the ship, so everybody, well maybe not the jewelry stores, is usually successful in getting people back to the ship on time.

After a great deal of research and comparison, we booked Sunny Liston Tours.

It was our first time to STT, and we wanted to get a good overview of the island, while hitting the main tourist attractions.

We had a great day with Mr. Liston. One attraction was that he was willing to take our group to Sapphire Beach instead of Coki Beach, Coral World, or Megan's Bay. That's something of a moot point now, as Sapphire Beach no longer has restroom facilities or a dive shop available, based on reports over the last few months. Sapphire was a nice shady beach that had decent snorkeling. STT has so many beaches that are highly praised, that if a beach stop is important to you, you'll find one that you like. Sunny was quite informative, very entertaining, and his driving skills make the trip adventurous. We'd use him again without hesitation.

Can anyone recommend a tour company that is similar to Bernard's tours on st Martin but in st thomas?

Yes, there are tour operators in St. Thomas that offer land tours. Although there is no visit to an iguana farm or sea urchin man like in Bernard's tours, you will get a sightseeing tour of the island (which includes many scenic overlooks), admire the view from Mountain Top, which is 1547 ft above sea level, stop for shopping and have time to unwind on a tropical beach (usually Sapphire, Magen's or Coki). Airforce 1 Papa Bear, Sunny Liston, Christopher EEE Tours and Godfrey are all popular tour operators here.

In 2009 we took the sightseeing tour with Papa Bear which included 2 hours of beach time at Sapphire. At that time Mountain Top was recently destroyed in a fire, so we stopped at St. Peter's Great House instead.

We enjoyed our day with Papa Bear. We found him to be very personable, informative and friendly.

Which ones are the BEST and get their cruise passengers back to the ship on time? Any of them do private tours?

Some of the popular tour operators in St. Thomas such as: Airforce 1 Papa Bear, Sunny Liston and Christopher EEE Tours all offer private tours and they will assure you get back to the ship on time--afterall they do have a reputation to uphold!

We have done Bernard's twice and loved them. On our last stop in St. Thomas we used Godfrey and loved his tour as well. We did the tour with 2 Hours of Shopping and Island Tour. We wished we had done 3 hours of shopping. Godfrey for $5 more will leave you at the beach of your choice (from his list) for a couple of hours and come back and get you. Well worth the $25 to $30.

I walk out of the cruise port area where you see those open truck cabs. Negotiate and try to get a group with you. 15 bucks a person and we did a tour , beach and shopping. It was awesome. Coki beach has a police officer stationed. Also has changing and outdoor showers. Food and drinks , chairs and umbrellas.
