Transfers/taxi/shuttle

We are arriving at the Sydney airport and need transportation to the Sheraton on the Park. Is the shuttle our best value or a taxi?

Also need to get to the pier from the Sheraton - it looks relatively close.

Is a taxi the best bet?

Staying in Auckland - need to get from the pier to the Heritage Hotel - looks very close - is a taxi the best bet?

Do not use a shuttle. They have a horrendous reputation.

Your choice will be a taxi (preferred) or the train, Sheraton on the Park is just up from St James station. Taxi will be about $20 more than the train

I don't know about taxis in Auckland, but if your luggage is manageable and your party is fairly mobile, it's walkable. When we stayed on the wharf, it was only about a 10 minute walk to where that hotel appears to be.

If you are arriving at the domestic terminal, then you could try the new Redy2Go shuttles (green vans) located at the western end of the terminal roadway. Cannot comment on how reliable they are as this is a new service but on the outside seem very professional.

Shuttle drivers are not permitted to tout for your business in Australia.

Taxis are plentiful with little waiting.

If arriving at the International Terminal i would simply take a taxi or book a chauffer car from Towncars.

Train from either airports is very easy.

Sheraton on the Park is in central downtown Sydney, still quite a walk to the OPT,,so suggest taxi is best. If you are travelling light then ok to walk but you would be ducking and weaving the crowds:eek:

We are assuming your ship is departing from OPT at Circular Quay. If departing from White Bay then the only choice is taxi.

If there are more than two, taxi will probably be best price.

What do you think the cost of a taxi for two people from Sheraton on the Park to the pier would cost?

Depending on time of day and day of week, $20 tops, you could also get the train from Museum Station, just over the road to Circular Quay and a short stroll to OPT.

GUT there are no elevators or escalators at Museum and getting bags in and out for cruise luggage is a pain :)

True about the elevators and I tossed up between St James and Museum.
