Cost of cab from MIA to Port of Miami

Can anyone help with the approximate cost of a cab from Miami Airport to the Holiday Inn at Port of Miami?

Is it quite easy to pick a cab up at the airport? Is there ever any problem with the traffic at around 4pm which could cause us to get caught up in traffic and create a higher fare?

Airport to the Port is flat rate $24 ... the HI is close but not 'flat rate' but you can expect the fare to be very close to this. This table will tell you that airport to a "downtown hotel" averages $21.40 (per CAR not per person) and a shuttle will charge $15 for the first person and $10 for each additional person . . .

YES - this is a "big city" and there are a TON of taxi waiting for fares at the airport during regular hours. There are signs directing you and dispatchers to assist you.

Well, this IS possible as a taxi meter fare has both miles traveled and time as factors but I don't think it will be much of an issue in your (or any) case. You can eliminate the meter factor by taking a shuttle which for two will be $25 (all fares are plus tip btw)

In summary my recommendation is: do not fear taxi in Miami. 99 times out of 100 you'll have NO problem. Use the table to know what your fare should be and ask when you get in the car, "what will be the approximate cost to XXX." If the answer is not what you expect to hear (cuz you checked the table), get out and wait for the next car! If you arrive and the fare is much more, don't pay, dial 911 and ask the driver to wait (for the police to arrive). For ONE person a shuttle is less $ but for two or more .... just do the math.

Getting a taxi at the airport is very easy. No need to worry.

It will likely run around $25.00 to $30.00 and the precise fare will depend on traffic.

It's an easy ride and when you go to the Port Of Miami it will only be around a $12.00 taxi fare and about a 10 minute or less drive.

Thank you so much for your replies.

We thought the transfer should be easy but with the Internet, sometimes there is just too much information!

Do we have to pre book the American Shuttle or can we just turn up?

It is so difficult to enter a pick up time to book a transfer as we have been caught so many times with immigration at MIA. We could be hours coming through

Because it is hard to predict what time you will be off the ship an the fact that it will be cheaper for you to take a taxi from the port of Miami to the Holiday Inn at Bayside and taxis are very consider, you really might want to take a taxi. It really is the best way to get between these two points in terms of ease, and price. The drive is about 10 minutes.
