ell52 Posted June 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2004 I'm interested in this too. Also any suggestions for dim sum in Chinatown? Ell Coral Princess - Trancanal on Sept 26, 2004
sodell Posted June 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2004 Try City View. It's at 662 Commercial St. It's traditional Hong Kong style. Last year I was there & 5 of us was $105. for lunch. I was told that was reasonable for SF. < a href="http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=927093444&f=939097554&m=890102322" target="blank" >Join us! sodell Posted June 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2004 ell52.... by any chance would you know where to find Jimmy's beef jerky? It's been a few years since I could find it in Chgo of SF. I'll be in Vancouver in Sept, so I thought I'd stock up on it. Thanks < a href="http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=927093444&f=939097554&m=890102322" target="blank" >Join us! ell52 Posted June 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2004 sodell, thanks for the info on City View. As for Jimmy's beef jerky, I haven't had any in awhile, but think you'd find it at any Chinese or Asian market. I know for sure that most places carry Jimmy's Chinese sausages. Will take a look for the beef jerky and let you know. Ell Coral Princess - Trancanal on Sept 26, 2004
sodell Posted June 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Ell52... the funny thing here... I'll be in Vancouver 9-26 for the NCL Sun repo to LA. Thanks for the info.... It would be great if you found it. Hadn't had it for a few years, I grew up on it, so I think all jerky should taste like Jimmy's. Cruise_More_Often Posted June 20, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 20, 2004 Kitsey, there's a restaurant south of Pier 35 on the Embarcadero called "Waterfront." It's not too far from Fisherman's Wharf and not "touristy," as those right at Fisherman's Wharf are. ell52 Posted July 20, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2004 by any chance would you know where to find Jimmy's beef jerky? Finally got through to their office in Vancouver and was told they stopped production last month and are closing their business! Sorry. I'm told one of the most popular brands here is Soo's - so you might want to try it. Ell
sodell Posted July 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2004 I can't believe it!!! I grew up on the stuff & nothing else taste the same. ( Maybe I can find it in some dusty old corner grocery store. The stuff will last forever. Thanks a bunch for checking. I really appreciate the time you took from your busy day. I guess Soo's is it. 9 1/2 more weeks...... dosi Posted August 4, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 4, 2004 It is a little shoebox of a place wedged between Aliotos and Fishermans Grotto number 9. There is no view to speak of but they have their own fishingboats and the food is very very good.
jlmarr Posted October 2, 2004 #12 Share Posted October 2, 2004 You should try The Buena Vista for an Irish coffee ($6) - it's right by the cable car turntable at Hyde and Beach.
