E-Bike excursions

I haven't used e-bikes myself, but I have friends in Germany who tell me that older people have quite a few accidents. They have been biking all their lives, bought an e-bike because it is less strenuous to ride, but they are not accustomed to the speed. To answer your question, yes I think you should be a confident bike rider.

On our ocean going Hapag-Lloyd ship, the push bikes could only be used in the organized group led by ship staff. I suspect it will be the same on river cruises for bike safety and insurance reasons.

Thanks, I think I will skip the e-bike tours then!

Don't be put off, just be as careful as you would normally.

My wife and I only own ordinary bikes, but ebikes are great fun and we use them on holiday, mainly to assist with hills. My wife turns off the motor most of the time, but I keep it on lower as I'm not so fit!

We used them on our Scenic Rhone cruise last summer, sometimes on our own and sometimes on a group excursion, but everyone was given a good safety briefing and we only went as fast as the slowest participant.
