Skier52 Posted June 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2015 I've been wondering what Meraviglia, means in English, so I've google translated it and there are SEVEN possiblities. I'm hoping an Italian speaker will give me best translation with regards to a ship's name. The seven translations are:- 1) WONDER (Disney already have a ship with that name) 2) MARVEL 3) SURPRISE 4) AMAZEMENT 5) ASTONISHMENT 6) WONDERMENT 7) BEAUTY My guess(es) would be 2 then 7 then 1 Here is the google translation

Alex71 Posted June 29, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Here's what they say on their webseite: “Meraviglia”, or “Wonder” in English, is the feeling of being amazed when we see something new, extraordinary or unimaginable. MSC Meraviglia will be the first ship with three homeports and will spend her inaugural summer sailing the Mediterranean in Summer 2017. http://www.msccruisesusa.com/us_en/Ships/MSC-Meraviglia.aspx

AmoMondo Posted June 29, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Isn't "WONDERFUL" (adjective) translated as MERAVIGLIOSO?? I only went to Italian classes for a couple of years but I too would have gone with Wonderful or marvellous. Meravviglioso means more wonderful and meravigliossissmo (sp?) means most wonderful.
