Hotels in Port Canaveral

I know there is probably a thread on here somewhere about this, but my search keeps timing out. Hubby and I are driving into Port Canaveral to sail the Glory on 3/15. We're coming from Alabama and want to drive in on Friday and spend the night. I am looking for hotels where we can park for the week and shuttle to the port. Any help (even links to threads) would be appreciated!!!

Radisson at the Port or the Country Inn & Suites are my recommendations.

We stayed at the Radisson when we went on the Glory this past May. It is a somewhat older place, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. We are going to either stay there again or try the newer Country I&S this coming May when we go on the Mariner.

They have a cruise parking package that includes free shuttle, free breakfast, free parking for the week. It really worked out well for us.

Happy sailing!

Here is some information that may help in decisions:

All below 3 Cape Canaveral hotels are about 2 miles from the port and offer rooms with a view of the port, where you will be able to see the cruise ships in the morning. Be sure and sign up for the port shuttles. None of these 3 hotels are on the beach nor is it within walking distance of the beach (5 min cab ride). If you want the beach close, look for a hotel in Cocoa Beach – beachfront hotels are posted further down.

Radisson

Website: http://www.radisson.com/capecanaveralfl

Beginning July 9 2007 Radisson will officially offer free transportation for guests – the Area will be the Port, Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, Merritt Square Mall and free transportation (to and from) and highly discounted tickets to Kennedy Space Center.

Free cruise parking with an overnight stay

Breakfast buffet for $9.95, some higher rates include breakfast

Radisson webcam (points to the port):

ROOM INFORMATION PER REQUEST

None of the rooms will give you an ocean view since they are several blocks from the ocean. The standard rooms are only 2 stories. the suite buildings are 3 stories. If you want a good view of the ships in port, the best recommendation is the 300 building for standard rooms and either the 200 or 400 building for suites. the 200 building is closer to the pool but the ship view may be better in the 400 building. The pool area may get quite noisy so if you want a quiet area request courtyard view. The most favorite rooms are in the 800 building 2nd floor facing the pool. Be aware that most of the pool side rooms are king rooms. There are just a few rooms with 2 beds facing the pool.

You CAN see the ships from the north side of the property. buildings 100, 200, 300 and 400. 300 and 400 give the best views. btw, the Glory and the Mariner are so big, they usually block the views of the other ships. Due to the construction of high rise condo's and according to Joe P. the GM, there are a few rooms that will only give small views of the ships.

A PS from Joe P the GM

The Cruise package includes breakfast and is available at all times

We do shuttle any hotel guest to the port

And at times we do offer discounts on rooms available on the internet and have special conditions such as no refund and prepayment

November 23, 2007 - this is the latest news from Joe P. concerning the rooms that have some view of the port and also Joe is having health issues so please keep him in your prayers.

Dear Shirley – sorry about the delay here – but I have been out and still am from work with a detached retina and there have been some problems.

But there are some rooms where you can see the ships – but none that have a wide open view of the port any more.

Your friend

Joe

For our September cruise we stayed at the Radison Resort at the Port and it was AWESOME! The pool is great and my kids loved it. Also, the rooms all have Sleep Number beds which were very comfortable. They also offer a good breakfast buffet the nex morning before heading to the port. They also offer free shuttle service to the port. However, it was SOOO crowded we ended up taking a cab which wasn't very expensive at all.

Hey Nawlins, do you mind if I asked you what you are paying to stay at the County Inn & Suites? I have a reservation there for April 26th, but I have seen the same package online for a little bit less. I've also read where someone got a discount using AAA.

There's just the 2 of us so we don't need a suite or anything like that.

Thanks

Dianne

What would you recomend if we want to spend a little less? We are just going to be there the one night and don't need a very fancy place just clean, we are thinking about doing a one way car rental so shuttles to the port are not as important.. It will just be me and the DW so child options are not needed. We are hoping to keep the hotel right around $100 for the night total.

Sam we have a Motel 6 here that is close to the beach, restaurants etc.

It has really been cleaned up - they are located at 3701 North Atlantic Avenue, Cape Canaveral and phone number is 321-783-3103 which just may serve your purpose or even Luna Seas which is a little bit further South on the West side.

Hope this will help some

Always

Shirley

Sam, you might also want to go to www.tripadvisor.com and put Cocoa Beach hotels in the search block. It will bring up all the hotels in the area with comments and ratings from people who have actually stayed there. I ALWAYS use this website before I visit anywhere I have never been before.....it's a great website.:D
