Greenwich to Heathrow

Our cruise will end at Greenwich and we are departing from Heathrow. Our flight doesn't leave until 1530 so don't need to hurry for an early departure. Anyone have suggestions for transport from ship to airport? Also what time would you suggest arriving at the airport for a 1530 flight?

Assuming you're tendeded to Greenwich Pier (by the Cutty Sark), then assuming you have wheelie luggage you can manage yourselves, the obvious route is to take the Docklands Light Railway from Cutty Sark DLR to Bank, change there for the District Line to Barons Court, change there for the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow.

The change at Bank is step-free: escalator, walk, escalator. If you don't like the sound of this, then you can change DLRs at Westferry: stay on the same platform and get a DLR to Tower Gateway. There you can change to the District Line by taking the lift down to street level, walk to Tower Hill Tube, and take the (new) lift down to the platform. The walk is short; this is an official change route and does not count as two journeys.

The change at Barons Court is cross-platform, involving about a 10 foot walk. If wet, change at Hammersmith instead (which is more sheltered but the platform is wider so it's more like 10 yards to walk).

A taxi all the way to Heathrow from someone like Uber should cost around £50
And if a minicab like Uber is the sort of thing one has in mind, then there are also all of the usual specialist airport transfer companies endlessly discussed here too.

Most carriers say to allow 3 hours and I would aim for this, which allows some wiggle room if traffic is bad.The drive should take about an hour. Tube a little longer.
