Nightengale212 Posted March 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2012 Just got off the Star yesterday which was my first NCL cruise which was a comp from Twin Rivers Casino in R.I. Casino and free drink cards for hubby and I were waiting for us in our cabin along with a welcome aboard note from the casino manager and hosts. There was a brief welcome aboard rum punch party the first night which we missed as we were having dinner at that time, but we showed up in the casino later in the night to begin our play. As usual, hubby and I parted ways once in the casino as he headed to the 3 card poker table and I went to check out the slots. Well, my gambling eyes lit up when I saw my favorite slot Stinkin Rich!!!! I played stinky for most of the night and pretty much broke even. The following night I made about $1,500 from several different machines which carried me for several more nights of play. Around night three I got comped dinner with wine at Le Bistro which was lovely and night four one of the casino hosts brought me over a bottle of champagne. Although I did not end up hitting any big jackpots, I was able to play with my alloted money for the week and was able to rack up 20,000 points. Those points should have equaled about $200 off my account, but NCL was good to me and picked up my tab for $564 in spa treatments, and then on my play took care of hubby's tab which was about $100 for the internet and a dinner at Cagney's. So all in all the experience was good despite not winning huge amounts of money because I was able to play and have great fun while doing so the entire cruise without breaking the bank :) PS Yes we did get the goodies of cookies, etc. left in our cabin throughout the cruise. LaCal Posted March 19, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2012 How'd your Husband do on the 3-Card Poker? We Love this game and play it alot.....Have done Great on some cruises and Lousy on others.... We mostly start out playing $1.00 Video Poker....If this is hitting good We'll stay playing for quite awhile.... Once it either dies down or is Not Lucky for Me I'll switch over to the 3-Card Poker.... I also Play in Every Texas Hold-Em Tournament and Live Cash Games at Night.... If the Tables Arent Kind I then go and play the Slot Machines and or back to Video Poker.....(Last year while on Our first NCL cruise my DW was in this situation....Couldnt Hit anything on the tables....She walked over and sat at the Bar playing $1.00 Video Poker and Hit for $4,000)....OH!!! WAS SHE HAPPY.....:D Also On Our Last Cruise this past November it seemed like I played almost every Table Game, Slot Machine, etc it the Whole Casino........Hit some here and there but Not Big... Nightengale212 Posted March 21, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted March 21, 2012 LaCal, my husband played 3 card poker and blackjack a couple of times the entire cruise which he walked on the ship with $400 to play with and walked off the ship with $450. No big wins for him but he was able to play the entire cruise without having to hit the ATM!!!

When you're ready to book your next NCL cruise call the Casinos at Sea phone number and ask them to check out your play from the last cruise. You should get a comped cabin :D

We enjoyed the Star and had fun in the casino. It sounds like you spend some time in casinos as we do and not breaking the bank on a trip is definitely a good thing :D . Thanks for posting and good luck in the future!
Dicenator Posted March 23, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 23, 2012 popsec, what is the criteria to get a comped room from NCL? Size of bet, amount of buy in each night? Dicenator
popsec Posted March 23, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2012 popsec, what is the criteria to get a comped room from NCL? Size of bet, amount of buy in each night? Dicenator I was told that for the table games you'd have to be playing $25 a hand and be averaging 2 hours of play a day. When I'm not playing at the slot machines I like to play blackjack but my $5 a hand doesn't get me any comps :(
VideoTech Posted March 25, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 25, 2012 popsec, what is the criteria to get a comped room from NCL? Size of bet, amount of buy in each night? Dicenator Most casinos (NCL/CAS included) evaluate your play based on the amount of money you put at risk, that is: how long you played and at what stakes. I don't think any of us knows the exact criteria for a comped room, since there is some flexibility in this at CAS, and since your ability to get a comp, for the same amount of play, varies by how popular the ship & itinerary are. Nightengale212 Posted April 10, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted April 10, 2012 Got a postcard in the mail yesterday from Foxwoods and I have been comped another NCL cruise, but this time around got upgraded from a inside to a balcony :) Have to pick up the cruise certificate on the 28th at the casino. Don't know yet what are my cruise choices, but if offered looking at a 9 Day Caribbean out of New York March of next year. We could drive to the port which would be a nice change from flying. We will see.
