CruiseQc Posted April 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2015 There is a article today in the local newspaper about futur investments to the Quebec city cruiseport. About 90M$ will be put into making the facilities twice their actual size and a inflatable one, only used during cruise season. Here is the link for the whole article (in french): http://www.lapresse.ca/le-soleil/actualites/transports/201504/27/01-4864773-le-port-leve-le-voile-sur-son-projet-de-terminaux-de-croisieres.php

Jolie_Cruiser Posted April 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2015 Just found an article in English about that. Here it is: http://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/12513-quebec-to-get-terminal-overhaul-other-improvements.html
sail7seas Posted May 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2015 Why? The current terminal seems to serve well enough??
Twickenham Posted May 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2015 Why?The current terminal seems to serve well enough?? I think they're looking at expanding now to meet future demand. The article mentioned that passengers seem still to be satisfied now with the facilities, but that could change as ship traffic increased and the current infrastructure was stretched beyond its current capacity. I think the main things they are looking to achieve are: -Expanding the terminal I believe with a view to having 2 ship turnarounds at the same time; -Filling in the weird V void between berths 22 and 21, which makes docking 2 megaships at the same time difficult; -Providing a better solution for turnarounds at berth 30, an industrial berth used as overflow during cruise season - that is where the rounded inflatable terminal will be situated, replacing the 'wedding tents' that are currently used. sail7seas Posted May 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2015 Thanks, Twickenham. We have cruised Maasdam to Quebec City a great many times and always enjoyed our visits. Wonderful city. :)
Rare geoherb Posted May 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 21, 2015 I also thought the current configuration was adequate. I'd like to take another cruise from Quebec after they finish to see what they did.
