Our First Cruise

Recommended Posts

My wife being English is particular about her tea. Do the staterooms have the facilities to heat water for tea? We are in a Junior Suite on the Freedom of the Seas.

Also is it worth it to join the Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor Club?

You will not be able to heat any water in your cabin. It is not allowed as electrical things are fire hazards. But very hot water is always available in the buffet often on the side of the coffee dispenser. You can also ask room service to bring hot water. On most ships there is a variety of teas in a wooden box by the sugar, cream, etc. Then there is good old Lipton (UGH!) available with the sugar too. I too am a tea drinker and get my morning tea from the 'box', English Breakfast!

Think you become a member after your 1st cruise with them- it is free.

The tea choices run to herbal teas rather than good black tea varieties. You may get one.

You don't have a choice about joining the crown & anchor. It's automatic once you cruise. Don't worry about it.

There is no downside to joining Crown & Anchor - it doesn't cost anything extra, and you begin getting benefits after your first cruise with Royal Caribbean (though you'll need to take several cruises before getting the more worthwhile benefits).

The only RCI ship that we know of with kettles in cabins, is the Independence from Southampton.

Celebrity Eclipse also provides a kettle in every cabin when she's in the UK, but apparently they disappear on the transatlantic.....

Most UK managed ships provide a kettle.

Jo.
