amitt Posted October 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2009 I am planning to do Rome on my own to save some £££. Since I want to spend the maximum possible time in seeing Roma, I am trying to catch the last possible train to the cruise and taxis whereever possible. The Ship starts at 7pm, so I have to be there 30 mins earlier. - Where can I take a taxi to Vatican city from Piazza Navona? - Where can I take a taxi from Vatican city to San Pietro station? - Am I risking too much by taking a return train trip at 1659 from San Pietro and reach the Civi station at about 1800? Given 10 mins walk to the port shuttle, how frequent are these port shuttles? - What are the timings of the shuttle from/to Civitavecchia port? Are they very frequent - Do we get easy taxis or prebooked taxis at the station to the cruise? Do you guys think I should take it easy and climb a return train 30 mins earlier? Thanks Amit
Budget Queen Posted October 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2009 Your return timeframe is a risk. You can NOT count on the trains being on time. My opinion, I'm on the train back, an hour before the one you are considering. The port shuttle buses run continously, the timeframe will be posted in the ship newletter. There is a taxi line at Civi station.
amitt Posted October 2, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted October 2, 2009 Thanks for your reply. Ok, I would try to make it as early as I can with my tight itinerary (cover the whole world in a day :D). Few questions regarding the taxis - Where can I take a taxi to Vatican city from Piazza Navona? - Where can I take a taxi from Vatican city to San Pietro station? And how easy it is to get one at the Civi station!
