Another RC newbie question

Recommended Posts

We will be sailing for our first time on RC and I was wondering about the "dress code". I have been told by some that it is more casual than Carnival....any thoughts? We would never go into the MDR in casual shorts, t-shirts, ball caps, etc. (it makes me cringe to see that).

When we cruised Carnival on non-formal evenings hubby would wear khaki's and a collared shirt, I usually went with "dressy" capri pants or a skirt and a nice blouse.

Thanks!!

Royal does not enforce the dress suggestions. You can wear whatever you want.

It's not "more casual" than Carnival. Royal Caribbean dress code is "suggested" only. That means that you can go as casual as you want. However to date, shorts in the MDR at dinner is still expressly forbidden. Having said that, there are occasionally shorts seen. Some ships will enforce it, some won't. But collared shirt and khakis are more than acceptable. Here is a copy and paste of the current suggested dress from Royal Caribbean website:

Q: What are the dress codes onboard?

A:

Onboard Dress Code

Smart Casual: Ladies: Skirt or pants (no holes, rips or tears) with a blouse. Gentlemen: Pants (no holes, rips or tears) with a collared shirt.

Formal: Ladies: Cocktail dress or pantsuit. Gentlemen: Suit (black tie is optional)

Note: Swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurants or specialty restaurants. T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops are acceptable for lunch.

Note: Smart Casual is allowed on Boarding Day at The Grande Restaurant (should only be included where we are speaking about The Grande)

It's hard to get MORE casual than Carnival!

On RCCL long pants and a collared shirt will work fine in the MDR!

Have a great time! :)
